Free $1,000.00 AD&D “Accidental Death and Dismemberment” Insurance,
                          for American Legion Members

•        Legionnaires must activate in order to be covered with the no-cost $1,000.00 Accidental Death &
Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance. In addition, if the Legionnaire is participating in schedule Legion
business (Post meeting, Mid-Winter Conference, Department Convention, National Convention, etc.) an
extra $500.00 is added to the $1,000.00 no cost benefit.  The insurance must be activated by the
Legionnaire.
•        LIT does provide three ways to activate.  They do not provide us an email activation option, but do
provide a phone number 1-800-235-6943, a website  address, www.thelit.comand and a mail in form. If
you call the 1-800 number, keep in mind  AGIA controls LIT and represents several different programs.
So, when they answer, tell them you are an American Legion  member in Tennessee and wish to activate
your no cost $1,000.00  AD&D Insurance.  If you utilize their website to activate, open their main page
and look for the $1,000.00 no cost site.  Incidentally, the LIT website can be connected from the
Department website www.tennesseelegion.org at the bottom of front page.
Mojave Cross Settlement Lauded by American Legion

A federal district court decision that ended a decade of legal battles over a cross that served as a World War I
veterans' memorial in the Majave Desert was praised today by the leader of the nation's largest veterans organization.

"We are delighted that the court approved a land exchange that will finally enable the Mojave Cross to be restored as
the monument to World War I veterans that was first erected on Sunrise Rock in 1934 by a World War veteran, Riley
Bembry," said Fang A. Wong, national commander.

A federal judge approved the lawsuit settlement Monday, permitting the U.S. Park Service to turn over a remote hilltop
area known as Sunset Rock to a Veteran of Foreign Wars post in Barstow, Calif., and a nearby veterans home.  The park
service will give up the acre of land in exchange for five acres of donated property elsewhere in the 1.6 million acre
preserve in Southern California.
